However at the club’s annual general meeting on May 25, members agreed it was finally time for modest increases.
Subscriptions have therefore risen from £15 to £20 and the fee towards the cost of hiring our accommodation has gone up from £5 to £7.
This is partly driven by the increase in the rent charged by the Park Crescent Conference Centre which means next year the society will be paying £800 for our monthly meetings.
A further change agreed at the AGM is that in future all subscriptions will be due for renewal in June each year. Those who join the society part way through the year will be charged a proportion of the annual fee.
Meanwhile we have a new Membership Secretary, or more accurately, a revamped Membership Secretary. Some years ago David Uri held this responsibility and he has now taken over again from Rolland Bullivant.
The society will shortly be posting renewal notices to members and inviting those whose membership has lapsed, to rejoin.
Inevitably mailing lists of organisations such as the James Braid Society becomes out of date after a few years as members move to other parts of the country or end their association with hypnotherapy.
The intention of the forthcoming mail out is therefore also intended to identify those who still wish to continue receiving regular information from the society and those who do not.
